Fairfield Inn and Suites Mexico Hotels
From Bill Marriott's blog: Today, we celebrated a momentous occasion at our headquarters in Bethesda, Maryland. We were joined by the Mexican Ambassador to the United States, Arturo Sarukhan, and representatives from the Pulso Hotelero ownership group in Mexico for the signing of a monumental development deal for our Fairfield Inn & Suites brand.
Fairfield Inn & Suites is a well known, moderately-priced brand in the United States, and is now beginning to expand internationally. The development deal signed today was for 36 Fairfield Inn & Suites hotels throughout Mexico over the next 10 years. This is the largest development agreement we've ever signed and we're excited to move quickly to open these brand new properties.
The first of these Fairfield Inn & Suites hotels will open in Cabo San Lucas and Guadalajara in 2011. For a long time, people have asked when we were going to open a hotel in Cabo, and this property will be our first. Cabo is one of Mexico's most fantastic vacation spots and we're excited to finally have a Marriott-branded hotel there.
Marriott has been in Mexico for over 40 years. I remember when we opened Paraiso Marriott in Acapulco in 1968, so it's been a long, long time. We had a great time down there with our family on many occasions. It's a wonderful travel destination.
We are thrilled to continue our expansion in this beautiful country and to see Fairfield Inn & Suites grow. With more than 600 hotels in operation right now, and approximately 160 more in the pipeline over the next 4 years, Fairfield Inn & Suites is one of our fastest growing brands and I'm excited to continue to see it develop.
I'm Bill Marriott and thanks for helping me keep Marriott on the move.
