Huatulco Mexico Travel
Huatulco is one of Mexico's newer resort developments. Judging by its growing popularity and repeat visitors, however, it may soon become as famed a Pacific coast destination as Puerto Vallarta is today.
Located 180 miles south of Oaxaca city, Huatulco covers a 22 mile stretch of Pacific coastline carved into nine beautiful bays. The coastal terrain here is shaped by the southern Sierra Madre mountains meeting the Pacific Ocean, creating tranquil bays and coves with scores of charming crescent-shaped beaches embraced by verdant cliffs and lapped by crystalline blue-green waters. Many of the beaches are only accessible by private boat.
Tangolunda Bay is where the major hotels are. The small town of La Crucecita, where most of the locals live, provides Huatulco with a quaint downtown area. The average year-round temperature is 85 degrees F., with a wintertime low of 57 and a high of 100 during the summer months. Showers cool temperatures during the rainy season, from July to October.
