The Huasteco Canyon - Spectacular natural monument 9.5 km south of Monterrey, in the Cumbres de Monterrey National Park. The canyon is a gigantic mass of 305 m with attractive formation and mountainous crests on which pre-historic peoples drew pictograms.
A lot of the water in the National Cumbres Park in Monterrey flows into the Santa Catarina River. During the dry season, this river penetrates a series of canyons enclosed by parallel massifs, known all together as the Huasteco Canyon. The upper parts are covered in pine and oak forests and the lower parts are filled with shrubs and cacti and inhabited by reptiles and small mammals. Monterrey Mexico Travel
