LATINA Style Magazine, a national magazine for the contemporary Hispanic woman, is proud to announce that the 2004 LATINA Style 50 Best Companies Awards will be presented on Thursday, February 3, 2005 at an exclusive ceremony at the JW Marriott Hotel in Washington, D.C., followed by a reception at the White House.

The ceremony will be hosted during the Awards Luncheon, and invited guests include President George W. Bush and First Lady Laura Bush, Secretary Elaine L. Chao of the Department of Labor, and U.S. Treasurer Anna Escobedo Cabral. As LATINA Style 50 Company of the Year, General Mills’ Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer, Stephen W. Sanger, will serve as the Awards Luncheon Keynote Speaker.

Prior to the Awards Luncheon, LATINA Style will host its second annual Best Practices in Diversity Conference, which will address corporate issues pertaining to Hispanic women in the workplace and profile some of the most successful programs of the LATINA Style 50 companies. Expert panelists from the 50 best companies will discuss the following topics: Creating a Successful Work Environment for the Professional Latina, Recruitment and Retention Strategies that Work, Developing Your Career Path and Negotiating Your Next Promotion, and The Role of Affinity Groups and Mentoring Programs.

The LATINA Style 50 awards ceremony attracts the top Latinas in corporate America, influential leaders of the Hispanic community, corporate CEO’s, chief diversity executives, marketing and human resource officers, Latina entrepreneurs, government decision-makers, and other national experts on diversity in the workforce.

The annual national listing of the 50 companies providing the best professional opportunities for Latinas is the most respected evaluation of corporate America’s policies and practices as they pertain to Hispanic working women. Companies responding to LATINA Style's survey were evaluated based on the issues LATINA Style readers identified as most important to them in the workplace. The principal areas of evaluation were: Number of Latina Executives, mentoring programs, Women on Boards of Directors, Educational Opportunities, Dependent/Childcare Support, Leave for Childbirth, Alternative Work Policies, Benefits, Women’s Issues, and Hispanic Relations. The list is the result of an extensive search involving more than 600 of the most respected corporations in the United States.
