Ecotourism of The Sea of Cortes Biodiversity

Mexico Travel and Vacation - The delicate ecosystem of the Sea of Cortes, whose climate between December and February can get so cold it snows in the northern part and between June and September tropical storms are produced in the south, initiated its formation 130 million years ago, during t he Mesozoic era.

Its wealth of flora and fauna is so vast that scientists have calculated that 30 percent of the reptiles, mammals and plants that live in this region cannot be found in any other part of the world. The biodiversity of the Sea of Cortes includes the annual mating of the whales in the bay of Baja California which attracts thousands of tourists between the months of December and March.
