Acapulcos Tehuacalo Archeological Sites
Acapulcos Tehuacalo Archeological SitesMexico Travel Videos - Acapulco’s Newly Discovered Archaeological Attraction.

If we thought almost every archeological site was already discovered, we were wrong.  Just recently, about 50 minutes from Acapulco, a new pre-Hispanic zone has been brought to light: Tehuacalco. Located in Chilpancingo in the southern region of the state of Guerrero, called El Yopitzingo, the archeological site includes the remains of a ball court, residential space and a holy temple.

Believed to be a ceremonial center, the name Tehuacalco has three different meanings in the ancient Nahuatl language: Place of the Stone Box, Place of the Priest’s Houses and Place of the Sacred Water House.

Tehuacalco will open in late 2008 for visitors to explore. This new cultural attraction offers tourists the opportunity to have a complete experience of Mexico in Acapulco, which includes sun and beach, relaxation and pleasure, plus, an encounter with the roots and pre-Hispanic culture of Mexico.

Acapulco continues to diversify itself from other tourist destinations throughout Mexico, offering travelers 12 miles of golden sandy beaches, lush landscapes surrounded by the Sierra Madre Mountains, a dazzling nightlife and cultural attractions such as the San Diego Fort, Diego Rivera’s Wall, the Mask Museum and now the Tehuacalco archeological site.
