The state of Puebla is an incredible example of the rich history and the striking legacy of sacred art, churches, convents and colonial buildings that Mexico has to offer. Travelers can enjoy a unique art and history tour of the state, starting in the capital city, Puebla. Known as the City of Angels, and a World Heritage Site, Puebla has some 5,000 colonial buildings, convents and churches, all remarkable examples of the baroque style.

Along the road to Cholula from Puebla, you can find two amazing structures: the church of San Francisco Acatepec, an elaborate Spanish baroque temple covered with multicolored Talavera tiles, and the peculiar church of Santa Maria Tonanzintla, with its western Catholic concepts created by native hands.

The route ends at Cholula, where two marvelous convents are located: San Gabriel, one of the best preserved convents from the 16th century, and Huejotzingo, from the San Franciscan order, well-known for its cider, fruit marmalade and typical clothing.
