Driving from Puerto Escondido to Puerto Angel - Departing from Puerto Escondido, take Highway 200 west for 14 miles until you arrive at the town of Ventanilla.
Here you can visit a community that makes great efforts to participate in a wildlife conservation program that aims to protect the mangrove zone and the natural habitat of crocodiles.
Next, follow Highway 200 for 30 miles until you reach Mazunte, where you’ll find the Centro Mexicano de la Tortuga, a center dedicated to the research and protection of sea turtles. The center has a turtle farm to foster the reproduction of these species. About 4 miles ahead you’ll reach Puerto Angel, one of Oaxaca’s most beautiful bays.
There you can visit beaches with clear blue-green waters, such as La Boquilla, La Mina and Ixtacahuite. At these beaches, which are surrounded by dense vegetation, you can do various aquatic sports, including swimming, fishing, scuba diving and snorkeling. |
