Adventure Tourism In Veracruz
When you think about Veracruz, you think culture—the music, the dance, the folk art, and let’s not leave out the world class Xalapa Symphony Orchestra.
But what we often overlook…
is the fun and adventure. In all directions from the city, and only a few hours distant, is adventure tourism of all kinds.
To the east of the city, immediately east, is scuba diving and snorkeling of the Veracruz Coral Reef System.
Close to the north we have sand-boarding on ocean-front sand dunes.
Almost due west and 18000 feet higher in elevation is North America’s third highest mountain peak. There is mountain horseback, mountain bike, mountain climbing, and even glacier climbing at Orizaba Peak.
Not far to the northwest is whitewater rafting. I tried rafting for the first time six months ago, and already I’m a devotee. Along with rafting is rappel and zipline.
For those braver than I we have caving. Most of it is also up a little way to the northwest.
To the south is some wonderful large lagoon fishing.
So come to Veracruz for culture, but also come for adventure tourism and ecotourism.
At Mexico-Ecotourism.Org you can find direct contact with local, family-owned adventure and ecotourism providers—and this way you get culture right along with having fun.
