Jalcomulco--Adventure, Eco, And Cultural Tourism
Veracruz, the state, is a multi-faceted treasure with adventure, ecology, and culture available to visitors, and it’s found everywhere in all directions from the City of Veracruz. The Sierra Madre Oriental’s high ridge line is only eighty miles from the coast, and so a great variety...
of geology and environments are packed tightly together.
Jalcomulco (about half way between Veracruz and Xalapa) is blessed with a beautiful fast-running river for great whitewater rafting, cliffs for repelling, deep and steep canyons and dense forests rich in eco-delights, and residents whose families have lived there for hundreds of years.
Most tourists come to town for the whitewater rafting. There are several fine services. Talking to Chevy, a member of the national rafting team, about his participation in worldwide rafting competition lets one in on the mixing of a little of the modern with so much of the old and wonderful found in Veracruz’s small towns.
Our school’s students often go for an exciting day of rafting. They come back marveling at the beauty, enchanted with the people, and, of course, telling about missing boulders, and getting drenched, and conquering the unconquerable river.
Adventure is fully packed with nature and culture in Jalcomulco. And as the residents will go on to explain, nature is fully packed with adventure and culture, and culture is fully packed with adventure and nature. Happy words from a proud and friendly people.
